2005 Amiata Sangiovese from Italia

We had this deep vino for our roasted corn and avocado salsa steak tonight.
Description: deep red, tobacco like an old cigar, had to breathe for awhile - bitter on opening. Aroma: not good. Don't smell it.
Overall: Both wouldn't do over.

A: 84 points
E: 75 points (as A laughs)

Artesa 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

We had a steak for first time in many months so decided to rock a serious cab to go with it.

Bouquet: cinnamon, raspberry

Descriptor: deep plum, garnet color. Cedar, strong tannins, earthy finish, plum (not quite thunk plum!), berry but not sweet berry.

Great with steak roasted corn avocado salsa!

A: 92
E: 93

Peju Cabernet Franc

Napa Valley Peju Cabernet Franc 2004

We enjoyed a Cabernet Franc tonight. We have renters again and have reason to celebrate!

Bouquet: pomegranate, tobacco

Descriptor: light plum, vanilla and white pepper. Color is deep brownish garnet. Would be good with a cigar, which we are currently without.

Our scale: 100 being best wine ever:

A: 90

E: 85 (needs a steak, then 90) :)

Wine lovers

We are beginning a new idea of blogging our great wines that we drink. In 2006-2007, we went to Napa Valley and tried some great wines at some amazing vineyards. We are now starting to drink them and want a way to keep track of them. Here's the first to start our blog, although there have been many good ones before it.
The Provenance Carneros Merlot 2003 is a good one to start with!
Bouquet: leather from the Renaissance shop :), Blackberry
Descriptor: Meaty, earthy, thick wine - would be great with steak. "it's like a thunk plum - whole plum with leaves, pit and all - so thick!", berry, tannic.

This is really a very serious wine, the likes of which we rarely are able to enjoy.

Random scale out of 100 (100 being best wine you've ever had):
E: 96
A: 96
