Celebrating our one month old

Baby E is one month old today. Hard to believe he's already been with us a month when it felt like forever for him to arrive!

We are celebrating with an Adobe Red from Clayhouse Wines (CA) given to us as a gift from work. It's a combination of six varietals and complex. Has earthy, plum, fruity characteristics. We are a bit out of our wine tasting snobbery so this will have to do. We are at least enjoying a nice glass together - it's been awhile!

Side note - goes well with mint chocolate.

hey there, wine readers.  we've taken a bit of a hiatus from the blog since one of us had to go get pregnant…however, we're within a couple weeks from being able to drink wine again.  and blog about it.

Grand Marais Free Range Red

Celebrating Mother's Day in Grand Marais - one of our favorite places in the world! Had a Rex-Goliath Free Range Red. Good cheap red that we enjoyed while playing backgammon with lake Superior in the background!

Baldacci Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

We are celebrating our community garden tonight with some bacon wrapped tenderloin steaks from Buch's (amazing) and this wonderful Cab from our Napa trip in 2007.

Description: Baldacci Brenda Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 - very thick, tannic wine. Glad we are having good steaks with it.

Aroma - blueberry jam and earthy characteristics
Taste - earthy, berry - blackberry or currant, leathery, smokey, tannic (almost hides berry).

Really enjoyed this wine.

Sterling Sauvignon Blanc

This is a great white wine on a nice night in NOLA. I'm enjoying this vino (E) while A enjoys gin & tonic.

2005 Amiata Sangiovese from Italia

We had this deep vino for our roasted corn and avocado salsa steak tonight.
Description: deep red, tobacco like an old cigar, had to breathe for awhile - bitter on opening. Aroma: not good. Don't smell it.
Overall: Both wouldn't do over.

A: 84 points
E: 75 points (as A laughs)

Artesa 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

We had a steak for first time in many months so decided to rock a serious cab to go with it.

Bouquet: cinnamon, raspberry

Descriptor: deep plum, garnet color. Cedar, strong tannins, earthy finish, plum (not quite thunk plum!), berry but not sweet berry.

Great with steak roasted corn avocado salsa!
